In the name of GOD

In the name of GOD

The first picture I'm posting in my blog starts from one of my favorite but a sad picture I took during "Indra Jatra" a very big festival in Kathmandu.
During various of my photographic expeditions this picture has been able to hit me whenever I look at it.
A simple picture of a begging woman is not a very surprising or a new thing in the streets of Kathmandu. But here what I captured was not only that. During this festival thousands of people come to visit the deities and offer a lot of prayers along with money and food to the gods and goddesses. But ironically any human action is driven by a certain kind of vested interest and this is where the ignorance of this begging woman takes place in a holy place.
I feel my thoughts were perfectly captured by the picture where a line of people are moving towards the God's statue amidst which the old lady begs but is ignored.

Faster than a car

It seems like an eon ago when I was that foolish kid trying to outrun a moving car by running as fast as I could. The fear was not of being run over by it but of losing the race. It was pure. Just the win mattered. No matter how many times I lost the race, I always was ready for another. I really didn't know where my disappointment of the last defeat got lost.
Today the kid tried to do the same, crossing my vehicle and nearly being run over. I hit the brakes, got pissed off and nearly shouted but the memory stopped me.
What is it about this kid trying to outrun my vehicle?
Well I compared and it was nothing but the zeal to win. But a pure win. Clean win. True win.
Where does it get lost in due course of time, I don't know. Wish it'd stayed with every kid trying to outrun a car in motion. Wish it stays with me till the end.
